5 years ago today, February 28, 2011... The very first TSL games were played! 3 matches were played that day: (Links in scoreline)

  • (IJGator) Santos 0-2 Schalke 04 (UcanHateMeNow)
Winning the first ever recorded TSL match was UcanHateMeNow with FC Schalke 04, a team that could hardly be imagined as a 4* team today. Ucan also forgot his own name in his writeup, posting IJGator as the manager for both teams. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored the brace to give Schalke the 2-0 victory, which included an assist from Spanish legend Raul.
  • (Zikry) Palermo 1-0 Hamburger SV (Broncos218)
In a matchup of what would soon become two TSL giants, Zikry edged out Broncos218 with a 1-goal win. Fabrizio Miccoli scored the game's lone goal in the 60th minute. The goal would've been considered a big no-no by today's standards, as Miccoli stole the ball from a CB at the edge of the 18-yard box, and promptly shot it into the back of the net to sway the full 3 points Palermo's way. We also learned right away that player ratings would never be the same on both user's screens, something that FIFA has never bothered to change as it does not result in FUT purchases.
  • (Broncos218) Hamburger SV 2-0 Napoli (grundlebug)
Not to be letdown from the Palermo loss, Hamburg bounced back quickly with a 2-0 win over Napoli, another team that would be hard to imagine as 4* today and consisted of stars Edinson Cavani, Marek Hamsik, and Ezequiel Lavezzi at the time. Mladen Petric scored a brace for Hamburg, and the game was also the first to have an in-game disconnection. Hamburg would go on to win 12 more matches in Season 1 en route to winning the inaugural Serie A title.
