Lucky or Lovely? Vol. 1, Episode 1

Lucky or Lovely? Vol. 1, Episode 1

Putting my money (not really) where my mouth is and trying to contribute to some league content to help everyone get back on the OOTP bandwagon. I was thinking about something that people might actually be interested in reading, that I would also enjoy writing about. Naturally I came to the luck or lack thereof side of baseball analytics. Each month (in game), I'll look at a few expected win totals and comment on them, and then take a look at some players who have set the world on fire for that month and decipher if they're LUCKY or LOVELY. This seems like an interesting conceit to start as the season is almost over - but I'll be writing my first official post tomorrow following the sim. Hope this encourages others to think outside the box and invest in this great community we have here - especially before the holidays put a huge break on any momentum we're about to pick up.

Time for another draft throwback, this time examining what has happened to the 2051 draft class. All these players have had plenty of time to develop and either been put on the 40 man, taken in Rule V, or fallen off the face of the baseball world. Let's take a look back.

1: Colorado Rockiets - SP Walt MacDiarmid
MacDiarmid has suffered through a couple of major injuries in his career, but he has made it to the ML as a solid starting pitcher. Is he the dominant force that he looked like he'd be out of TCU? No, but he's still a guy who can be a #2 in a rotation. MacDiarmid was part of a major trade between Colorado and San Diego, and is part of a supremely talented and young San Diego core.
